The Sedona Marathon continues its relationship with the renowned Wharton Health Experience as official sponsors of the event in our long term relationship. Father and son team, Jim and Phil Wharton, are the authors of the Wharton Health Books, have regular columns in Runner's World and USA Today and have personally trained over 500 Olympic medalists.

Phil Wharton is a world-renowned musculoskeletal therapist and coauthor of the best-selling Wharton Health Series. He has worked with people of all backgrounds, from Olympic medalists and professional athletes to those suffering from difficult conditions and chronic pain. Phil's path to becoming a therapist started when he was a young runner. He developed a 33-degree curvature of the spine / scoliosis, which produced constant pain. Through this work, he was able to end the pain, correct the problem, and continue his running career.

"Our aim is to change how people see themselves," says Wharton "It is so easy to get overwhelmed if you have gotten out of shape or gained weight. The program encourages small shifts and steps that add up to a healthier lifestyle. Small modifications and adjustments can change your life over time. Nicknamed "The Mechanics" by USA Today, the Whartons (Phil and his father Jim) are internationally known trainers, therapists, and authors who established their practice in 1989 and changed the face of human performance. They have worked with luminaries in the sports world from professional football players to Olympic gold medal winners.
